Obituary of Richard Adams

Richard C. Adams, a retired CEO of A C Power Company, Inc., and beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, coach, and World War II veteran passed away Monday, April 4, 2011. He was 85.

He was married to June Elliott for 65 years and lived and raised their family in Feasterville.

He was the brother of Bette Miller and Robert Herbert Adams, father of four children, George, Richard (Carol), Susan Gibbs (George) and the late Jo-Anne DeHennis (Philip). He was the grandfather and great-grandfather to 25 children, and taught all of them "The value of a dollar and the power of the pen", the benefits of sports and sportsmanship, and the value of being a smart and hard worker.

He was born in Philadlephia and raised in Baltimore, MD and graduated with honors from City College High School.

In 1941, out of love for his country, he joined the US Army and proudly served as a sergeant in the 28th Infantry Division in Europe during World War II.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW, and the Olivet Oriental Lodge 385 Free and Accepted Masons.

He was dedicated to his family and took great pride in being a self-made man teaching all how to achieve high levels of success as he had done in all his business endeavors.

He was the owner of Adams Cleaners in the 1950s and 1960s, before founding A C Power Compnay, Inc. in 1970, a distributorship for commercial laundry equipment. His forte was in sales with the philosophy of suceeding by enabling his customers to succeed.

He was president and coach for the Lower Southampton Athletic Association for many years.

Mr. Adams was known to those who loved him most as an "Old Soldier". Through all of his years he lived with great mental and physical toughness, and a tender heart to all that he came across. He loved to write about his experiences and teach everyone all he had learned about life. Those who took the time to listen benefitted greatly from his wisdom.

He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, and any sport that his children decided to pursue. He was a hunter, and loved the quietness of the mountains.

He will be missed by all.

Relatives and friends are invited to call after 9 AM Saturday, April 9, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Street Road and Churchville Road, Southampton, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
