Obituary of Richard Helt
HELT, RICHARD B. of Roaring Gap, NC, formerly of Aston, PA . Son of the late Warren C. and Elizabeth (nee Burns) Helt, he was born in Port Jervis, NY and raised in Frackville, PA. Age 69. He was an Eagle Scout and received the Honor Medal from Boy Scouts of America for his heroism in rescuing a boy from drowning in an ice-filled dam. Mr. Helt attended Penn State University. He was a training supervisor for PECO for many years. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served 6 years and was Chief Petty Officer with the submarine USS Nautilus for 4 years. Survived by his wife, Mildred C. (nee Markowski) Helt,of Boothwyn, PA, children: Eric G. Helt of Lansdale, PA, Thomas E. Helt of Palm Beach, FL and Anna Marija Helt of San Francisco, CA, brothers Ronald Helt of Doylestown, PA , Russell Helt of Enola, PA & the late Robert Helt, and 3 grandchildren: Lauren, Andrew & Kaitlin Helt. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
