Richard A. Rose, Sr. age 89, of Huntingdon Valley, PA passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at St. Joseph's Manor. Dick was the son of Joseph Edward and Mildred Smith Rose of Pottsville, PA . He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Marilheln D. Rose.
A graduate of Pottsville High School, Dick received a bachelor's degree from Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, PA before beginning his career with Westinghouse in Mansfield, Ohio. Dick and his young family relocated to Huntingdon Valley, PA to continue in with his career at Bridgeport Controls and later became Vice President of Manufacturing at Keystone/Yarway until his retirement in 1996.
Dick was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Southampton, PA . Community minded, Dick served as past president of the Huntingdon Valley Athletic Association. He also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and assisted with various charities.
Dick was an avid traveler. Together with his wife, Mariheln sought to explore the far-reaching wonders of the world.
Dick is survived by his children, daughter, Suzanne Weckenman and her husband Robert of Richboro, PA; son, Richard A. Rose Jr. and his wife Virginia Rose of Shavertown, PA. Dick had great love for his three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, Richard A. Rose III and his fiancé Aleksandra Coric, Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Catherine Weckenman Liske, her husband Kyle and daughter, Addison Catherine, Lorton, VA; and Ronald J. Rose, his wife Paulina and daughter Valentina Nola, Berlin, Germany.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dick's funeral mass at 11:30 AM on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Our Lady of Good Counsel Church.
Friends may call from 10:30 AM until mass to share fond memories.
Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park following mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dick's name may be made to the National Centre for Padre Pio, Inc., ( https://www.padrepio.org/donate/) or Our Lady of Good Counsel ( https://olgc.org/ ).
