Robert V. Claypoole of Southampton, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 30, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 90. Robert was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 10, 1935 to Charles & Margaret Claypoole. He was the beloved husband of Rita Claypoole (nee Morrone), with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Robert often said his most cherished achievement was marrying the love of his life, Rita, and spending many happy years together. He was a devoted father to Dr. Robert A. Claypoole (Judy), Charlene, and Michael (Hope) Claypoole.
He was a proud grandfather to Anthony M. Succi, Danielle DiCianni (Antonio), Damian Succi (Karen), Ava Hesson, Angelina, Gabrielle, Nicholas, Jeremy, Sophia Claypoole, and Aryon Clarke. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Liliana and Luciano DiCianni. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Robert honorably served his country in the United States Navy for four years and continued service in the Naval Reserve for an additional four years. He later served his community as a police officer with Lower Merion Township for eight years.
Over the course of his life, Robert pursued many paths. He was a talented photographer and owned his own service station. For the last 38 years of his life, he was a devoted member of the Amish Mennonite community, where his deep love for God guided his daily life. He had a love of dogs and owned many over the course of his life. His last cherished buddy was Mickey for the past 13 years.
In his free time, Robert enjoyed gardening, reading the Bible, volunteering for disaster relief efforts with the Amish congregation, going on family vacations, making and drinking wine, and a love of food.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, and celebrating life’s moments with his family.
Robert will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to God, his family, and his service to others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.
