August 25, 1929 – May 22, 2020
Robert passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020. He had been ill with complications from Alzheimer's, and the physical disabilities attributed to his Korean War Service. Bob will be laid to rest with his first wife Marilyn and son Paul at Sunset Memorial Park, Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania on June 18, 2021. His wife, Maureen, daughter Linda and her husband John, and their three sons, Patrick, Bob and Andrew, survive him. His daughter Donna and son Paul preceded him in death. Donna and her husband Mark Murphy have three children, Lynn, Rebecca and Luke, and a granddaughter Eden Rose.
Bob is also lovingly remembered by his stepchildren Perry Sandstrom, and, Ann and Christopher Crabtree and their families.
Bob was born to Vincent McGrath and Mary Kosco McGrath on August 25, 1929 in New Haven, CT. He attended Hamden Hall Country Day School and Cornell University, Ithaca N.Y., majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Bob spent his engineering professional career at Pratt & Whitney, Drever Co. and finally for 22 years at Fisher Porter as Manager of Project Engineering. He has his Professional Engineer Certification from both the state of California, and Pennsylvania. Bob was a Captain, during the Korean War, and served as a Jet Fighter Pilot with the US Marine Corps, Air Wing K-3, at Po Hang Dung, and the 1st Marine Division near Panmunjom. "Mac," as Maureen called him, served as a Deacon at St. James, Episcopal Church, Langhorne, PA., was an enthusiastic crossword puzzle worker (in ink), an amateur astronomer, woodworker, and loved the study of foreign languages and linguistics. Bob is dearly loved and will always be remembered.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel at 11:00 AM with Rev. Paul Briggs of Saint James Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
A visitation will be held in the funeral home from 10 AM until time of services.
