Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert James Russell, who returned to the Lord on Friday, November 7, 2025. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Frank and Anna (Freitag) Russell, Robert was a graduate of Northeast High School and a member of the Rosehill Eagles Baseball team of the Sandlot Sports Association. In the early 1950s, he served in the Naval Reserves as a Radioman/Seaman. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Drexel University, where he served as class president and was a member of the Cross Keys Fraternity. He was a brilliant inventor, known to his family as their own personal Ben Franklin. He holds over fifteen patents in envelope processing, extraction, and sorting machinery, being honored by the Association for Work Process Improvement with a 1998 TAWPI Hall of Fame award. He was self-employed at Russell Business Systems until his retirement. He served as President of the Optimist Club of Ocean City, MD, for several years. He was a member of the Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Erma, New Jersey. In his younger years, when Robert did have some spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and going Striper fishing on his pontoon, the "Lucky Us." He was an avid reader, loved visiting the beach, and attended weekly Bible studies with his spouse. Above all else, Robert loved to be with his family.

Son of the late Frank and Anna (Freitag) Russell; Brother of the late Frank Russell. Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Pamella A. (nee: Ryan) Russell; loving children, Linda Marie (Russell) Felici, Roseann Theresa Russell, Robert Kenneth Russell, James Robert Russell, and Carmen Rae Stanton-Belardo; beloved grandchildren, Joey, Nicole, James Andrew, Eric, Ashley, Robert Jr., Kyle, Mark, Tom, Morgan, Tiffany, James Matthew, Alex Sr., Alex Jr., Kevin, Ryan, Francis, Emmalee, Elliott, and Gideon; and eleven precious great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews that are left behind to share fond memories.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Robert's visitation from 11 AM to Noon at Kirk and Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 W. County Line Rd., Huntingdon Valley, PA on Friday, November 14, 2025. A funeral service will be held following visitation. Pastor Robert Strauss of Erma Tabernacle UMC will be officiating. Robert will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park.
