Obituary of Robert Schuman, Sr.
Robert P. Schuman of Huntingdon Valley, PA passed on Tuesday August 6 at home. He was 80 years old. Robert was born January 30. 1935.
He was the husband of Joan Schuman. They were married for 55 years. Together they raised 4 children, Bob Schuman, Ron Schuman, Joanne Bethel, and Janice Stranix. Robert is the proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Walter and his sisters Elsie and Doris.
Robert graduated from Lincoln High School, Admiral Faragut Prep School, and Penn State University. He was in the Navy for 2 years after graduating from college.
Robert worked at the business his father founded, O.P. Schuman & Sons Inc. for 55 years. He loved working with his father (Otto) and brother (Bill) to build a business that manufactures parts and machines for businesses around the globe. Even after passing the business on to his nephews and son, Robert continued to be part of this great company.
Robert loved sports, swimming at the pool, and trips to Lake Wallenpaupack, but what he loved most were his family and friends. Robert cared deeply for friends he had made throughout his life. He treasured his years as a grandfather and the opportunity to be part of their world. He loved his wife Joan and 4 kids. He loved deeply and he was deeply loved. He leaves behind a great family legacy and many friends who will miss him deeply. The bible talks about running the race of life well. Robert did that and has impacted many lives for good as a result. He was loved, and will be missed. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, from 10 to 11 am at the Warrington Fellowship Church, 2233 Bristol Rd. (at Cooper Lane), Warrington, PA 18976, where Robert's Celebration of Life will begin at 11 am. Interment services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, National Headquarters, 375 Kings Highway North, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034
