Obituary of Ruth Stefany
Virginia Stefany, 93, died on November 7, 2014, at the Glen of Willow Valley Communities. She was preceded in death by her spouse of 66 years, Michael Stefany. Prior to retirement , they resided in Oreland,PA. The Stefanys are survived by two sons, Ronald M. Stefany of Lancaster and Bruce R. Stefany of Hanover, New Hampshire. The Stefany family is unique as Michael and Ruth's marriage was followed by the marriage of her brother, Robert Faulkner to Michael's sister, Giselle Stefany. Their sons' marriage added spouses Francine Stefany ( Mrs. Ronald) and Betsy A. Stefany ( Mrs. Bruce ), four grandchildren : Laura Hettinger ( Mrs. Samuel), Columbia, MD, Elizabeth Stefany, Carrabassett Valley, Maine, Marisa Hollencamp ( Mrs. Jason ), Catonsville, MD, and Nicholas Stefany, Chambersburg, PA, and four great - grandchildren. In Philadelphia, they were long term members of Trinity United Methodist Church where their service was extensive and in retirement, they joined Highland Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. The Church, community and extended family has always been a core of Ruth's devotion throughout her life, both in their Philadelphia home and later at the Willow Valley Community.
All who knew Ruth have benefited from her steadfast focus on serving others through a variety of volunteer service. She enjoyed summers with family on vacation in Ocean City, NJ. Her hobbies included correspondence, baking, cooking, and crafts, which provided continual examples of her devotion to others. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014, 10 am, at The Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 County Line Rd. , Feasterville, Pa 19053 ( 215 - 354 - 0085).
