Salvatore "Sal" Faillace of Huntingdon Valley, PA (formerly Folcroft), passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 95 on December 23rd, 2021.
Beloved husband of the late Theresa Marie (nee Lemma) of 57 years. Loving father of Mariann Winkelman (Kurt), Salvatore Jr. (Lisa), Judith Claypoole (Dr. Robert), and Michael (Karen). Cherished grandfather of Emilee Hess (Frank), Taylor Winkelman, Eric Faillace, Angelina Claypoole, Gabrielle Claypoole, Nicholas Claypoole and, great grandfather of Lila Hess. He is survived by one sibling Theresa and was predeceased by his siblings Anthony, Frank, Lucy, and Vincent. Also, predeceased by sisters-in-law Mae Lemma, Rose Boninfante (late Roland), Reda Marella (late Silvio) and, brother-in-law Nicholas Lemma (late Grace).
Born in Calabria, Italy in 1926, Sal immigrated to the US at the age of 3 with his family and settled in South Philadelphia, PA where he spent his formative years. He proudly served in the US Army Air Force during World War II and afterwards made the most of his opportunities graduating from Temple University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and a certification from Drexel University. After being introduced to the love of his life through his mother and future mother-in-law, Sal married Theresa in December 1961. He worked as an electrical engineer for General Electric and PennDot retiring from Conrail in 1986.
Always very inquisitive and engaging, Sal enjoyed learning about everything and could converse on many topics. He was very much hands on and kept his mind active. He enjoyed playing backgammon and cards, solving mathematical equations, cooking, and baking bread—he especially loved spending time and traveling with his family who will miss him greatly.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a viewing from 10-11 am on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Nativity of Our Lord, 605 West Street Road, Warminster, PA 18974. A funeral mass will begin in church at 11 am. Cremation will be private. Services are under the direction of Kirk and Nice Suburban Chapel.
