Thomas R Hollar, 78, of Toms River, NJ, passed away peacefully with his wife Karol and his daughter Jessica by his side in his home on May 1st, 2024.
Born March 4, 1946 to Claire (nee Flynn) and Harold Hollar, Tom grew up in Belleville, NJ and graduated from Immaculate High School in Montclair, NJ.
Following graduation, Tom entered the United States Army achieving the rank of SP4. Tom continued his education after the service ultimately obtaining a Bachelor's Degree from Rutgers University in 1976.
His career spanned over 40 years in the automotive industry working his way up from parts guy to National Parts Manager for American Honda Corporation and ultimately Director of the Eastern Region for Gulf States Marketing. Upon retirement, Tom got great joy and fulfillment volunteering and supporting others. He touched countless lives in his work with Mission Teens with his good buddy Charlie Dewland and the Gift of Life. He positively impacted others by using his personal experiences to guide them in overcoming hardships to lead fulfilling lives.
In addition to his career achievements and volunteering outside the home, he was a wonderful and loving husband and an incredible role model to his children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His family enjoyed his company and amazing sense of humor. He was a joy to know, and he truly made all our lives better. Although his loss will be felt deeply, he would want his legacy to live on in our laughter and his spirit to continue to bring happiness to all our lives.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Karol (nee Kuhn), his devoted daughters, Jessica DeWese (Andrew) and Meghan Pistone (Michael) and their mother, his former wife, Kathleen Hollar (nee Pierson). Tom is also survived by his stepchildren Tommy Gallagher, Laura Langston (Tabiri) and Kevin Gallagher (Melissa). Also survived by the brightest stars in his sky, his grandchildren, Lauren Palomo, Andrew DeWese, Grace Palomo, Abigail DeWese, Catherine DeWese, Isaiah Gallagher, Caleb Gallagher and Luke Gallagher. Also surviving are his brother Bill Hollar (Cindy), sister Alexis Fraunberger, Gerri Fredericks (Matt), Mary Andrews and many loving nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Claire, in-laws Theodore and Mary Kuhn, his beloved son Thomas, and his brother James Hollar. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Tom's funeral service on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Wiley Church, 101 East Main Street, Marlton, NJ 08053 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Sam Mountain officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Brig. William C .Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM Tuesday morning at the church where friends can meet with Tom's family.
