Thomas J. Maresca, age 90, passed away on January 22, 2017 at Paul's Run Nursing Home. Thomas was originally from Sarasota Florida, King of Prussia, St. David's and more recently, Philadelphia, PA. Thomas retired from General Electric in 1991 after a 40 year career as a n Electrical Engineer. While at General Electric, he worked on large communication satellites, which were lifted to an altitude of 23, 000 miles in synchronous orbit around Earth. Many of these satellites are still in service. One of his later projects involved a space science experiment in which latex particles, uniform in diameter, were manufactured under conditions of weightlessness on the Space Shuttle . During WW II, Thomas served in the Merchant Marine as well as the U.S. Army. Tom enjoyed his retirement years with his wife, taking several long ocean cruises, and enjoyed concerts at the Philadelphia Orchestra where he was a patron. Thomas is survived by his wife of 23 years, Dorothy ( Scialdone); daughter Debbie Rubio and husband Roland from Sacramento, California, Patrick Maresca and wife Mary of Atlanta, Georgia; brother Howard and wife Maria from Valley Stream, New York, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild as well as step- children Loretta and husband Lawrence of North Wales, Pa and Carmela and husband William Clark of Brick, NJ. He was previously married to Patricia Ann Kelly Maresca for 40 years before she passed away in 1990. Services will be private.
