Obituary of Ursula Gartenmayer

Ursula C. Gartenmayer (nee Milligan) age 76, passed away Monday August 17, 2009 in Mesa, AZ. Born in Montreal Canada, she moved to the United States as a baby but spent most of her life living in Trevose, PA. After graduating from Frankford Nursing School she became an L.P.N. and devoted her life to helping others by being a nurse. She worked for many years at St. John Neumann Nursing Home in Philadelphia, PA, Holy Redeemer Hospital, Huntingdon Valley, PA and was one of the first nurses hired at the new St. Mary's Hospital in Langhorne, PA where she spent many years working in the OR and retired in 1994. After retiring, she moved to Arizona to enjoy the mild weather and to be with her family out west. Over the years she did return to the east coast to live and to spend time with her family here. She was a lover of the outdoors and spent many summers at the beach. Ursula enjoyed antiques, animals, books, music, yard sales, arts & crafts, bowling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Community Church of New Thought in Mesa AZ and was a very active member where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the Red Hatters Association.

Ursula was the daughter of the late Katherine Milligan and wife of the late Charles J. Gartenmayer. She was the loving mother to her five children; Charles Gartenmayer and daughter in law Sheila of Atchison, KS, Catherine (Tina) and son in law Michael Fleming of Gilbert, AZ, Lisa and son in law Edward Collins, Jr., of Pottstown, PA, Pamela Weiler of Langhorne, PA and son in law Chuck Weiler of Lambertville, NJ, Eric Gartenmayer and daughter in law Terri of Holland, PA. Ursula will also be sadly missed by her 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, August 24, 2009 from 10 AM at the Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel 333 County Line Road, Feasterville, PA where funeral services will be held at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ursula's name can be made to the Alzheimer's Association 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Fl-17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633.
