Obituary

  • Valentina Raspivina of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026 at the age of 78.

  • Valentina was born in Volkovo, Russia to Nadezhda Nechunaeva and Georgiy Lubin.

  • She truly loved life. No matter what, she was grateful just to be here and enjoy time with her family. She always reminded her children that family is the number one priority. There is not one person that she crossed paths with who didn't love her. She gave little gifts to everyone - all of her doctors, her service providers, even her great-grandchildren's pre-school teachers (she and Nikolay stopped in to surprise the kids regularly). She gave with her heart and appreciated everyone around her. She loved children and worked as a preschool and elementary school teacher.

  • Valentina's life's joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she helped raise many of them. She loved family gatherings, cooked with love, and enjoyed decorating. She brought joy and fun to every gathering. Her cooking was amazing and it will be missed. No matter how much we try to recreate her dishes, we just can't get them to taste as good. She had a knack for recognizing and creating beauty. Her dishes were beautiful, she sewed her own dresses, she made her own curtains, she loved to decorate. She once won a baking contest; her cake wasn't just delicious, it was beautiful, and this was before the aesthetic food trends. She spent all night making it.

  • She was a woman of deep faith, expressed through gratitude, remembrance, and tradition. She faithfully observed religious holidays and honored the lives of those who came before her. She marked each birthday and anniversary of loved ones who had passed with intention, visiting gravesites and preparing traditional foods, often delivering them quietly to her children and grandchildren so that remembrance would never fade. Her gratitude to God was constant and unwavering. Easter held a special place in her heart, and in her final days, one of her last requests was that her husband bring Easter cakes to each member of the family, one last act of love and tradition.

  • Valentina is the beloved wife to Nikolay Raspivin, loving Mother to Sergey Raspivin, Tatyana Moukina, and Nadezhda Raspivina. The caring grandmother of Anastasia, Alena, Ekaterina, Kristina, Daniel, Sabrina, and Kevin, and great-grandmother of Timur, Rolan, Saveliy, Ivan, Maria, Ethan, and Eva. She is predeceased by her mother, Nadezhda.
