Obituary of Viola Ward
Viola "Lola" Louisa (nee Lang) Ward was joyfully welcomed into heaven by her Savior and many members of her family on Tuesday December 14, 2010. Nannie lived with her daughter for the past 10 years. She was formerly a resident of Southampton, PA for 33 years. She was 87 l/2 years young.
She was the widow of William J. Ward, loving mother of Janet Ward and loving grandmother to Ashley Hartman and Gabrielle Gracyn Ward. She was the daughter of the late Albert Morris Lang and Mabel Lang. She was preceeded in death by her siblings Virginia Frey, Ester Abel, Jane Benner and Albert Lang.
Lola would speak so fondly of her childhood years with her siblings and their day trips to the sea shore in their itchy wool bathing suits. In her teens and early 20's she would love to ride horses in Valley Green and paint beautiful pictures. She enjoyed being the Aunt of her many nieces and nephews.
Nannie was very religious and took the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. Even with Alzheimer's she would remember to say her prayers. Even though Nannie had many obstacles during her life her faith was able to carry her through each and every day. She enjoyed reading the Bible and Norman Vincent Peale publications.
Nannie loved her food. When she would be given a lime green Jell-O every day for her snack, it was the best thing ever. She loved her cookies and crackers and the dogs loved her sneaking her crackers to them as an extra treat. Nannie enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters. Nannie would always light up when her 4 year old granddaughter Gabrielle would enter a room. She loved receiving kisses and hugs from her and playing with her piggy feet.
Nannie was always very appreciative and grateful anytime anyone did something for her. She would always say "Thank You", even her last hours on earth. A special thanks to Verona Gowdie who was her care-giver for the past 4 l/2 years. Nannie was the first one to greet you with a smile. We will always remember Nannie for her ability to make us laugh. We will miss hearing the "jingle bells" that were attached to her cane when she walked.
