Obituary of William Maguire

William R. (Sonny) Maguire passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 due to heart complications after suffering a stroke in November. He was 81.

Sonny was born and raised in Northeast Philadelphia. He graduated from Jules E Mastbaum Vocational High School. He was the son of William J and Virginia E Maguire.

Sonny was a proud veteran of the US Army and the US Army Reserves serving as a Cryptographer from 1956-1962 achieving the Rank of Sergeant.

After his discharge from the Army, he worked in the instrumentation business most of his life and held the position of Superintendant at several manufacturing facilities. He worked until his 81st Birthday.

Sonny touched a lot of people's lives and was always there to lend a helping hand or add some humor into a stressful situation. He is already sorely missed by his friends and family

Sonny loved to ride motorcycles and snowmobiles and was considered as an outdoorsman. He spent countless weekends at his cabin in Tioga County, PA. and was a long time supporter of the Arnot Sportsman's Club. He traveled quite a bit and visited many of the states and Europe. He enjoyed playing golf and taking golf trips with his friends.

Sonny was preceded in his death by his sisters, Ida Marsaglia and Dolores McHugh.

He is survived by his son William M. (Deirdre) and his grandson Matthew W. who will miss him very much. He will also be sadly missed by his nieces Laurie McHugh, Virginia Smith and nephews Dan and Ray McHugh.

Friends and Family are invited to call from 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 10 at the Kirk and Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 County Line Rd, Feasterville-Trevose, PA 19053, where a memorial service will be held an 6 p.m.
