Age 84, longtime resident of Hatfield PA, passed away peacefully on August 25 th 2018 after a period of declining health. Born in Philadelphia, PA on September 27, 1933 to the late Harry and Freda Schaffer.  William honorably served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army.  He was a long time retired member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, District Council No. 21. William was predeceased by his elder siblings Ruth, George, Harry, Gilbert, Grace and is survived by his elder sister Ethel. Predeceased by his youngest child and daughter, Nancy Schaffer; survived by his son Gary P. Schaffer of Hatboro, PA , and his daughter Denise (Anthony M. Jr.) Baccari of Doylestown, PA.  Pop-Pop to Travis Schaffer, Colin Schaffer, Kristin L. Tinari, Danielle L. (Joseph) Pilarski, Brent D. Tinari and his fiancé Shaylyn Lynch, and Great-Grandfather of Joseph (JJ) Pilarski  Jr.   William was also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his former wife, and mother of his children, Mary Jane Lindsay of Telford Pa.  The family would like to acknowledge and thank Caring Hospice Services for the special care and support that was rendered to William over the past thirty days.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in William's name to the Hopewell Hospice Foundation of America, Inc., 525 Route 70 West, Suite #B15 Lakewood, NJ 08701  (1.877.7.HOPEWELL). A private graveside service and Internment will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Feasterville, PA.
